Yamaha Paint matches

The Candy Green was used on the 1970 CT1B, 1972 LT2, & 1972 LT-M. If you surf the internet you will notice many different shades of Candy Green.

To get a good match to the OEM paint, I used NOS Parts that are not faded. I received some messages asking how many coats I used. The Candy green color will vary with thickness. More coats will make it darker, less coats lighter.

Paint used:

Sandblast old paint off

remove dents, use body filler

full cure

Duplicolor self etching primer ---- 2 coats

Duplicolor white primer ---- 2 coats

Duplicor flat black (Guide coat) to catch high/low spot imperfections. --- 1 very light coat dusting

full cure. sand off flat black

Duplicor white base --- 4 coats

full cure

Tape off stripes with moto dad 3m pinstripe tape.

Duplicor metal cast ground coat (Metallic Flakes) --- 3 coats

Duplicor metal cast Green Anodized MC203 --- 4 coats

Full cure

Apply Decal to oil tank

Clear coat of your choice. I prefer spraymax 2k as its gas/oil resistant and very high quality. --- 4 coats

1500-2000 grit Cut, buff with compound, wax.
