If you find a color that is close to factory or even a custom paint please share the information here!. I know lots of people will appreciate it. The Yamaha paint codes from 55 years ago are of no use today. If you take the paint codes to a paint shop they will scratch thier head as the code was only used by Yamaha.

Single stage black gloss . 2 coats of primer, 2 off paint.
Today I have used the chassis black. 2 decent coats and it's looking good.
I'll post a pic when it's dry.
If you have a frame that's got pretty rough corrosion or where the battery has spewed acid out and eaten into it , powder coating will cover it but looks crap if it's any place it can be seen. So with heat, filler or lead isn't an option to tidy it up. Your then left with the option of filler or lead to sort it out and spray paint.
So, I'm going to give Eastwoods Chassis gloss black a go, under coating with their primer to go with the paint. I've tried the undercoat out already and it goes on in two light coats. Good coverage. Be warned, get yourself a proper respirator, it's bloody lethal on your chest. It came past my respirator and holy shit, it hurts!
So now I've bought a 3M 6300 full face mask.
I'd like to pass on some information regarding RS aerosol paints and a bit of how to. Unless you have experience with waterbased paints look for an alternative 2k aerosol paint. It's hard to use and get a good result.
Buying the paint in half litre and spray application is much better and easier to apply. Each coat needs 10 mins with a heat gun constantly going over it. Why ? To evaporate the water. No solvent you see. The Cob coat ( metalic) goes on in quick, light passes. Heat gun, pass two, heat gun pass three. The tint is where using the gun pays off. You don't get spitting as you do with the aerosol.
One light even pass, heat, second pass and you should be very close.
If you need to do another, make it finer or you will be too dark. Remember solvent and water wash the paint right off. Then put it in a heated area and at least 48hrs before your 2K solvent based top coat can go on.
Or simply buy 2k paint ,but you might not have a choice.
Dave.

1975 Yamaha DT 250B Portuguese Orange. Below is an amazing 1975 DT 250 painted by Mark C. The paint used was Chevrolet Orange. It is almost a dead ringer match. Several companies sell "Chevrolet Orange". it comes down to personnel preference for which brand.
Thank you for sharing Mark Campbell.
