1968 Yamaha DT1....The beginning

1968 Yamaha DT1

The 1968 Yamaha DT1 Changed the motorcycle industry forever. It was the first Enduro released out of Japan, and is the grandfather of all enduros, which are now called dual sports. Many people refer to the 1968 DT1 as the "Holy Grail".

The factory DT1 was often modified for desert racing, motocross (MX), and other competition events. Yamaha even offered a GYT Kit to increase the performance and power. The Jones family used the DT1 as the platform for the very first Yamaha YZ prototype. They changed everything from A to Z. Lost in translation, the Japanese thought they said YZ. The rest is history.
